Singer-songwriter Jang Ki-ha is set to release his first solo studio album, San San Jo-gak, in September, marking a major milestone in his 24-year music career. The album will have its world premiere in a short film format at the 27th Jeonju International Film Festival, which runs from April 29 to May 8, 2026.

According to his agency, Duruduru Artist Company, San San Jo-gak will be screened daily from May 1 to May 3 during the festival. Notably, Jang Ki-ha will attend the screenings on May 1 and 2, engaging in a conversation with the audience about the album's creative process.

The album's creation process is particularly intriguing, as it follows a unique structure that transitions from poetry to silent film and then to music. Jang Ki-ha, who began his musical career in 2002 with the band Nunttgo Kovein and later formed Jang Ki-ha and the Faces in 2008, has continually explored new musical methods since embarking on his solo career.

Over the past two years, Jang Ki-ha has written poetry that reflects his inner thoughts, collaborating with director Mo Geosu to create a silent film based on these poems. The music was then crafted to align with the film's narrative flow. This experimental approach has drawn attention, with Jeonju International Film Festival programmer Moon Seok noting, "It is a complex yet bizarre and incredible outcome that defies conventional formats."

In the film, visually captivating characters such as 'White Ki-ha,' 'Black Ki-ha,' and 'Pillow Monster' will bring Jang Ki-ha's artistic vision to life. The project is expected to blur the lines between music, film, and performance, reaffirming Jang Ki-ha's identity as an artist unbound by genre conventions.

Tickets for the screening of San San Jo-gak will be available starting April 17 at 11 a.m. through the official Jeonju International Film Festival website. The festival itself will showcase a total of 237 films from 54 countries, emphasizing its role as a hub for independent and experimental cinema.

The 27th Jeonju International Film Festival will feature Jang Ki-ha's work and a diverse lineup of films, including 78 world premieres. The festival aims to solidify its status as a leading venue for independent film.

As the festival approaches, anticipation is building among film enthusiasts and industry professionals alike. The event will take place across various locations in Jeonju, including the Korean Sound Culture Center, which will host the opening ceremony on April 29.
